"It's been a while since I've made a recording, and I've been wanting to do this for quite some time now. I've been somewhat hesitant because I really didn't want to record a bunch of cover songs.

But, within the past year, the Lord has really blessed me with an abundance of original material. I recently completed a solo CD that includes several of these songs. Jay's Bio:

I was born in 1988 and grew up in the small town of Meherrin, Virginia. Ever since I can remember, I have always wanted to play music, and I just couldn't help but stare every time I saw someone playing an instrument.

I started singing in church with my Grandma, Uncle Wayne, and Miss Linda at the age of ten. That same year, my Grandad gave me my first guitar. Ever since then, I haven't been able to put it down.

I started playing with a local Bluegrass Gospel band ( Pine Ridge Express), and I played with them a few months before I moved on to playing the banjo. I also started taking mandolin lessons soon after. Then I formed my own group that went through a few name changes but were soon known as The Bluegrass Connection. We played together for three or four years before moving on to something else.

After about a few months of not playing with a group, I received a call from a friend about joining up with Northridge, a local band in the Central Virginia area. While I was in that group, the Lord really started dealing with my heart about how I was using the talent that He had so graciously blessed me with. I resigned from that group and made up my mind that I was going to use music to be a blessing to people searching for something more, something that can only be found by placing faith in Jesus Christ.

I now play with Appalachian Express from Chase City, Virginia, and also some shows with The Old Time Gospel Singers from Crewe, Virginia. I have been blessed in so many ways through music, and it's my desire that everyone who hears my music can say the same.
