A Big Country Nights welcome to the legend Neil
Andrews, Neil was telling me that at the moment he does not consider himself a
working artist but a 69 year old who sang in the early 60’s with one of
Melbourne’s first Rock N Roll Bands “THE PLANETS” and also several big
weekly dances, ie: Preston Town Hall with Johnny Chester (Golden Guitar winner
at Tamworth-Australia’s premier Country Music Award) and also Normie Rowe (
crowned King of Pop several years in a row) both of whom remain friends to
this very day!
Neil said that he left singing for about 20 years
before getting together a Cabaret act and then returned to perform at all of
the Gold Cost Clubs and a large number of Sydney venues between 1987 and 1992
doing a mixture of music including Country which he dearly loves and friends,
can Neil ever sing Country... take it from Wayne….
Well in about 1993 Neil returned to Melbourne to be
close to their Grandson and although he has not been performing regularly,
he recently began to record some of his songs, and to date, has four great
albums available. Neil is working on his fifth album, and from what I have
heard, all of my DJ and Radio Station friends need to get copies for their
radio audiences because Neil will light up your request line in a minute...so
