Growing up in Conneaut , Ohio , I was introduced to the promise and power of music at a very early age. As a little boy I would lie on my belly next to a single 4 inch speaker of an old 78 rpm record player, and soak in the sounds of Tennessee Ernie Ford, Gene Autry, Chubby Checker, and Johnny Cash. I would dream of one day singing for others. In 1986, at the age of 32, the Lord introduced Himself to me and took me in. It was then He gave me a place where I could trust beyond the shadow of a doubt that "there is no power that can conquer me while God is on my side. I'll just take Him at His promise, and never run and hide." (It Is No Secret-Stuart Hamblin) Along with that promise, came the joy of singing for Him. Using primarily Country, and Christian ballads, for over 20 years, I have been singing and ministering in churches and for special events. Never considering I had the gift to write songs, I was very content using cover songs that communicated the message I wanted to share. In June of 2008, having the desire to take my music to the next level, I sent my newest CD of cover songs, “Come & Worship,” to a variety of folks in the music business. Others told me that if I was serious about taking my music to the next level I would have to write original tunes. In July, having received a recording offer from Ms. Eva Hamlin of Tate Music Group in Oklahoma, she too, wanted to see original music to which I politely replied, “I’m very flattered by your offer, but I simply do not write my own songs.” I explained to her, “for many years I have been singing and ministering and have never had original songs. Sadly, I probably never will.” Over the next several weeks, Ms. Hamlin, as well as other friends and family, encouraged me not to give up. In our conversations, Ms. Hamlin said to me, “Pray about it Joe. I believe you can do it, and the Lord will help you.” During this same time, others were telling me they could see in my devotional writing I had the ability to write my own songs. A short time later, after having listened to my “Come & Worship” album, Ms. Darlene Fowler of HMG phones me and invites me to Nashville to visit with her and Gene Higgins. Suddenly, it dawned on me one day that all the Lord was asking me to do was give Him my heart in song writing just as I had been doing in devotional writing. “I can do that.” I thought, “No problem!” On August 30^th 2008, during a return trip from Nashville after meeting with Creative Soul Records’, Eric Copeland, the heavens were opened. By our destinations end that day, I had written in my head my first song, “Because of You.” Incredibly, by the following weeks end I had written 6 songs, including “The Wonder of His Love” for my wife Nancy in honor of our 34^th anniversary. Today, the Lord has blessed me with 29 songs, 12 of which will are included on my debut Nashville album “When Love Comes” released by HMG-Nashville in March 2009.

As you might imagine, this recent turn of events in our lives has been an avalanche of blessing for both me and my wife Nancy. For nearly 25 years I’ve not written one word to a single song, and now, literally overnight, 29 songs have come down from the throne room of heaven." Friends, this is an amazing testimony of how the Lord is able to lavish us with His power, provision, love, and grace. Like the blind Bartimaeus who received his sight in the gospel of Mark, or the paralytic who was brought to Jesus by his friends and given new life, never in my wildest dreams or imagination would I have ever thought this to be possible. Words alone cannot express my feelings of eagerness and excitement to share these songs with you wherever you are, from sea to shining sea. To all my family and friends who have helped make this dream possible, THANK YOU! In the future, I look forward to meeting new faces and making new friends as together we sing praises to our Lord and Savior, for He is indeed, “my strength and my song.” (Ex 15:2) See you soon!!

Regarding our new ministry "Help Me To Live Again Ministries Inc." we are still in the early discussion stages regarding it's focus and intent. However, our initial thoughts have centered on acquiring a stand alone building ie. (home or church) in a downtown area or central location that is highly visible and easily accessed that can house our ministry. Our desire is to help those in the Lexington/Wilmore/Nicholasville area who lack vision and purpose for their lives while offering hope for today and promise for tomorrow. Specific ministries would range from "basic needs" to "life skills" to "bible studies" to "bible workshops" to "worship services" to " concerts" to "community events." Nancy and I envision this ministry to fill the gap between a "basic needs ministry" and the "formal church" setting.
